Report highlights
Is communication working?
When employee surveys are conducted, communication is often sited as a challenge. In fact, $1.2 trillion is lost from workplace miscommunications each year.
This report uncovers that 51% of employees don't feel listened to by managers – and that number falls to 42% for offline employees.
Communication is crucial to culture and productivity, it is a challenge for employees, and only 12% of businesses have communication in their top three HR priorities.
What information do employees want?
When it comes to the topics that are most of interest, we found employees in most industries are most interested in information on training and development opportunities and policy changes from the organization. When it comes to their manager, employees are looking for performance feedback and recognition of their achievements.
How do they want information?
The research shows that employees favor in-person company-wide meetings and in-person manager one-on-one meetings as a means to get information.
This should reassure companies that sponsoring town hall events is largely of value, and also should send the message that managers need to find time to regularly meet with employees.
